Flea Market & Auction

Now over a quarter century old, the Abbott Flea Market/Auction is an annual event which takes place each spring. In years past the Flea Market has been held in the Grade School in the morning and the auction in the Abbott Showroom in the Afternoon. Starting in 2008 both will be held in the grade school and the bidding card is free! Beginning at 9 am the Flea Market is open and every hour on the hour will be a 15 minute auction up to 2 pm and then the rest of the auction will take place. A limited number of Flea Market tables are available for $25.00 each. (One table only please). This will allow you to also put 3 items in the auction. Tables sell out early and the Abbott showroom will be open during the day for regular business.

The 2008 Flea Market had 18 tables full of new and used magic props. Most of the sellers were individual magicians but a few were dealers including some Ebay magic shops which really created a wide variety of effects. Below are links/names to a few of the sellers who had tables at the 2008 flea market, if I missed anyone please send me an email and I will be sure to add it. Thanks for making the Flea Market/Auction a great success again.

  • Below are a few pics from the 2008 Flea Market, the bottom five are of Hank Moorehouse running the auction (which occurred the last 15 minutes of each hour). There were some great values all day at the auction (I bought the skunk shown here for $12 to give you an idea of the prices).

    Family Fun Flea Market

    Kids Playground outside Elementary School
    What About The Kids?

The first flea market I attended I left the kids at the hotel with their mom, what a mistake. Right across the street from the Elementary school (which host's the flea market and dealers show) is a wonderful play area for kids of all ages. In addition you will find picnic tables so you can have a outdoor brunch with your family, then spend a little time at the flea market while the family relaxes at the playground.

    Petting Zoo to the West

This year I got wise and realized that there is alot going on in the area besides the Flea Market, so my family made a mini vacation out of the day. After a couple hours at the Flea Market and Auction we drove about 10 miles West to Nottawa where there is a petting zoo at the Nottawa Fruit Farm. Our son had a blast petting the farm animals and deers and we were back in time for the next auction at the Flea Market!

    The Coldwater Auto Show
    Car Show to the East

Once the Flea Market ended we drove 20 minutes East to the Coldwater Car/Cycle Show and Swap Meet which was fun for the entire family. Hundreds of classic cars were on display and all the concessions you would expect at a fair ground. With the cost of gas going higher and higher, it is great to know that a relatively inexpensive vacation day can be spent by a family by simply asking Abbott's "whats going on in the area".
