BLACK SEVEN - SEVEN BLACK
EFFECT; The spectator stops the performer's deal and the last card dealt is laid aside, face down. Next the spectator cuts off a small packet from the top of the deck. Now the card placed aside is turned up and is, say, a Black Seven. The spectator then counts the black cards in the portion he cut off and finds he has SEVEN BLACK CABDS!
PREPARATION; The set-up from the top down in the deck is: Three indifferent black cards, then a black 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, two more indifferent black cards, all of the red cards, and then the remaining black cards.
ROUTINE; Remove the deck from its case and give it a false shuffle and cut. Cut off two thirds of the deck. Tell the spectator you will deal off cards one at a time and he is to stop you before you have gone too far. In the meantime you have dealt off the top three indifferent cards. He must stop you before you have dealt off the next nine cards. When he does, remove the top card of those dealt off and lay it aside, face down.
Next have him cut off some of the cards from those in your hand and shuffle them.
The card on the table is turned up and is, say, a Black Seven. The spectator then counts the black cards in his cut off group and finds he has exactly seven!
