The just passed S.A.M. Convention held in Boston, will surely be remembered as one of the most star-studded and greatest magic conventions ever held. To pick out some plums will be difficult, but here's a few personal highlights: PARKER SWAN'S lecture was excellent. It was filled with good COMMERCIAL kid show stuff. BOB ORBEN'S talk on comedy was worth it's weight in gold to the guys who want to be, and the guys who are, funny. To me, Orben's lecture alone was worth the registration price for the ENTIRE CONVENTION! DEL RAY'S close-up is truly magic. He performed at one of the after-show parties, and fooled everyone, including a young man who is still the nice guy he's always been despite his tremendous success on Broadway, DOUG HENNING, who flew in for the evening. Doug's meteoric rise to SUPER-STAR status has been one of the greatest "shot in the arms" magic has ever had. And magicians everywhere can thank him for the EXTRA shows you will be doing this year because of the popularity push given magic by Doug's success.
This convention was the first time I've had the pleasure of meeting and seeing perform, the Hon. Secretary of the LONDON MAGIC CIRCLE, MR. JOHN SALISSE. I nominate myself as president of your U.S. fan club, John, you're a great guy and a great performer. I've known JOHN THOMPSON a long time and have never seen him on a national convention show. That's why I was very happy when John's Polish Magician "kicked 'em in the head" on the closing convention show. Now, one of you magic convention planners book John on the close-up sessions, and you'll see he also EXCELLS in that area. I have nothing but praise for ED ROSENTHALL and his committee's for one helluva convention.
ONCE-A-PUN-A-TIME: The battle of the sexes is about over - it's too hard to identify who's who.

FOXY FOTOS: Here's a shot of two characters that are appearing in an entire chain of discount dept. stores thruout Ark. The character on the right is one of my favorites, LOGAN PRITCHETT. On the left is the stores trademark "Magic Mort" who is really Logan's son. Logan reports that the shows are going well, and that the assignment will keep him busy for the rest of the year.
WISDOM FOR WIZARDS: You can always tell a well informed magician. His ideas are the same as yours. . .
By the time you read this ROY KISSELL and I will be on our way to attend the I.B.M. Convention in Hastings, England. When the fog lifts we'll let you know about the trip. In the meantime, drop me a note. Opening mail is one of the most pleasant things we do at. . .
