the proud parents of this extremely large new addition to their family, and' may it continue to grow and become more orderly — I love it! WISDOM FOR WIZARDS
One of the best INVESTMENTS a magi can make is to attend one or more of the regional or national magic conventions. They are a lot of fun, and you never return home without five or six ideas that you can use, plus you've seen all that's new from the dealers. ONCE A "PUN" A TIME
A man brought home a pizza for his dog, and leaned it against the door to make it more accessible to the mutt. He summoned his wife to show her what he called the "LEANING PIZZA OF TOWSER".
FOXY FOTOS
At the Columbus "MAGI-FEST" I had a nice visit with my good friend JIM SWOGER (Re-gow's). Jim is slowly reissuing all of the ED MELLON mental effects, one of which is the effect featured by DAVE HOY called the VOODOO DOLL. Jim said he was making up one of the little straw dolls used in the effect a while back, and just as he finished the doll, and stuck a pin in it, the news of President Kennedy's assassination came on television. He didn't make any more dolls that day. However, the following time he did make one, just as he stuck the pin in it, another T.V. news bulletin came on telling of the murder of Lee Oswald! Jim says he hasn't made any dolls since then!!
In the company of BOB LUND, the famed collector, columnist, editor, writer, and curator of the effects and estate of the late "CLAYMO" the great, I recently had the pleasure of taking a guided tour conducted by the great JASPER, thru the new Ireland Magical City. I observed boxes, and boxes full of boxes, boxes, and boxes of magical props, manuscripts, books etc. As you have probably read, the space is enormous, and when everything is all shuffled, sorted, and arranged, it will undoubtedly be the most peerless palace of professional prestidigitorial paraphernalia in the world.
It's a sort of COLON within four walls with departments for printing, shipping, manufacturing, selling, performing, living, sleeping, eating, and just plain talking about magic. Mr. Marshall featured on the tour that we took, a display which is undoubtedly the only one of its type in the world, and will probably achieve in time, as much fame as the "DON LAWTON SUITE", and the "CHARLIE MILLER SUITE" already have. I've titled this attraction "JOHN FOR MIDGETS", and it occupies a permanent niche (literally) in the Ireland, Marshall building. Congratulations to
The above shot was taken several years ago (too many to remember the right year) at a COLON GET-TOGETHER. The four guys hanging around in front of the ABBOTT plant are (L to R) AUDLEY DUNHAM, THOMAS (RIVERBOAT) WINDSOR, the "Korny" one, and the unforgettable King of closeup performers, BERT ALLERTON.
KORN KRIB
Detroit's "MAGINVENTOR" WARREN STEPH-ANS suggested a cute addition to my Korny-bill collection. He took a regular dollar bill, and glued a picture of a gal's derriere on it. When he displays the bill, he says, "Here's my 'BOTTOM DOLLAR'!". Thanks, Warren.
