ROBERT HARBIN
Robert Harbin passed away on January 12, 1978 in London, England. He had undergone surgery six months ago and following a good recovery, took a short cruise. He was feeling so well that he then accepted a booking for a round-the-world cruise. When the ship docked in Los Angeles harbor a few weeks ago friends met him and took him to the Magic Castle in Hollywood. In Hong Kong he appeared on a television interview and was looking forward to visiting Australia. He suddenly became ill and was flown back to London. He regretted being unable to finish the cruise. Information from various sources disclose that he was in good spirits until the end.
His real name was Ned Williams and he became interested in magic at the age of 14. Five years later he moved to England from his native South Africa. He studied magic and was booked into England's famed St. George's Hall for a trial week, he remained for three years. He enjoyed a brilliant career. He was a genius at inventing magical effects and illusions, and will perhaps best be remembered for his Zig-Zag Girl Illusion. A few years ago the Academy of Mag-

ROY BENSON
Magicdom lost one of its more talented and gifted entertainers when Roy Benson, age 64, passed away December 6, 1977. He had suffered a long battle with emphysema and had not been able to be on the magic-scene for some time.
Roy Benson's act was a very popular one at many magic shows and conventions. He was probably best known for his "Bare Hand Salt Production," which seemed to go on endlessly, even when he would lay down flat on the stage, much to the entertainment of the audience. He was the first to combine a third wand in his hilarious Chinese Sticks routine, and his flawless manipulations with real Billiard Balls was without parallel.
He was born in France, the son of traveling show people, and is survived by his wife, Connie, and his mother who is 92.
There were no services held following the cremation on December 9. We extend sincere sympathy to the survivors.
