Broadway Hocus Pocus: Two Magicians in front of the Palace Theatre and one of them asked the other where he had been working. "I've been laying off" was the reply, to which the first one rejoined, "Good. We're on the same bill... Bob Lynn, NJ Magish, just com­pleted his 13th week at Joe Russo's Idle Hour Inn in Jersey. If you're idle, drop over and dig this show. It's really "copesetic" ... Tony Korro already set with his new art and from the looks of things will really GO soon . .. Broadway Talk: Ken Krenzel, cardextrous, has worked up a good 45-minute one-man show and will soon venture out in the club field. Good luck, Ken ... Frank Rose (not related to Billy) is a pistol and revolver addict and an officer in the Midtown Manhattan Revolver Club where he practices shooting and ends up the evening's festivities with an impromptu Magic show every week. Some of the members tell me they get a "bang" out of him (Ouch!). Does his Magic with trigger-like precision. . . Coe Norton will shortly resume his role as Mandrake the Magician on TV. Be on the lookout for this serial as there is plenty of Magic done throughout its showing ... Martin Gardner very busy with his writing, but manages to find time for Magic. Since recently becoming a father, he is now partial to kid tricks and is working out new steals for the diaper production... Bill Nord of Diablo Slate fame is ready to market another good trick . .. Sounds in the Night: Fred Keating recently garnered well deserved kudoes at the Phoenix Theatre here in New York. To give a little quote, all the reviews in the newspapers read something like this: "Keating offered some of the illusions that he used to do at Loew's State and the Palace, illusions which he learned from such masters as Thurston, Houdini and Leip­zig, among them swallowing a pack of needles and a handful of thread, only to bring forth the thread again with the needles strung on it. Others were the famous disappearing bird and cage, turning a ball of wet paper into airy snowflakes, putting an egg into a bag and hatching a chick, and a clever mental stunt that baffled the customers. Fred is not only a dextrous technician, but a fluent spieler as well" ... Jack Evans of California is off again on one of the bigger cruise ships to South America for the umpteenth time. Hasta la
